The University of the Arts Helsinki will introduce a scholarship programme in the form of tuition fee waivers, which aims to promote student recruitment and provide financial support for students who need it. Applicants should note that the University does not offer any scholarships for living expenses. Applicants who are liable for payment must also state on the application form if they want to apply for a scholarship from the University of the Arts Helsinki to cover the annual tuition fee if they get accepted. The scholarships are granted for one academic year at a time to some of the students based on their applications. The amount of the scholarship is 2,500 or 5,000 euros.

If you are liable for payment, you must state on the application form if you want to apply for a scholarship from Uniarts Helsinki to cover the annual tuition fee if you are admitted as a student.

  • The scholarships are granted for one academic year at a time based on the students’ applications
  • The scholarships are either 50% or 100% tuition fee waivers
  • New tuition fee paying degree students who have applied for the scholarship will be granted a tuition fee waiver of EUR 2,500 (50%) on their first academic year
  • The scholarships are personal to the applicant to whom they are awarded, and there is no reserve list system in the scholarship programme
  • The decisions on scholarships cannot be appealed against.

The Rector awards the scholarships every year. Scholarships are awarded based on the student’s own application and financial situation, and starting from the second year of studies, also the student’s academic progress. The scholarship programme includes full tuition fee waivers (100%) and half tuition fee waivers (50%). Scholarships are awarded for not more than one year at a time. Scholarships are personal to the applicant to whom they are awarded, and there is no reserve list system in the scholarship programme. The decisions on scholarships cannot be appealed against.
If the information provided by the applicant proves to be inaccurate, the applicant is obligated to return the scholarship funds. The Scholarship Committee may ask the applicants to submit additional documents in order to prove their financial situation, for example.

In principle, the university does not award scholarships if the student has exceeded the normative duration of studies (Bachelor’s degree: 3 or 3.5 years, Master’s degree: 2 or 2.5 years depending on the target degree).

A tuition fee is applicable to students who are not citizens of countries of the European Union (EU) or the European Economic Area (EEA) or Switzerland. The amount of the annual tuition fee will be 5,000 euros. The amount of the fee will stay the same for the duration of a particular student’s studies.
