- Applicants who are not Canadian citizens or permanent residents of Canada may only hold their Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship at a Canadian institution.
Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships awards must be taken up and held at the host institution that provided the initial endorsement. Before applying, confirm that you and your proposed host institution meet the eligibility criteria listed at the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowship website.
Selection criteria
All eligible applications to the Banting Postdoctoral Fellowships program undergo an evaluation by a selection committee from one of the three federal granting agencies: the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council, and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council.
Applicants should read the Selection committee guide prior to commencing their application. This guide lists the three evaluation criteria and has useful information on how the criteria are evaluated.
