Charles University offers PhD scholarships. A doctoral scholarship is awarded to all students enrolled in a full-time doctoral programme during the standard length of study (usually 4 years). The scholarship ranges from CZK 10,500 to CZK 25,000 per month. The specific amount within this range is determined by the Dean of the Faculty, in accordance with the Faculty Internal Regulation

There are currently 17 faculties at the University (14 in Prague, 2 in Hradec Králové and 1 in Plzeň), plus 3 institutes, 6 other centres of teaching, research, development and other creative activities, a centre providing information services, 5 facilities serving the whole University, and the Rectorate - which is the executive management body for the whole University.

A completed Master’s degree in a related field of study before entering the first year of doctoral programmes.
All applicants who submit the required materials by the deadline will be invited to sit an entrance exam (if one is required). Entrance examinations are normally held within the period of May to June, unless the faculty determines otherwise, for example adjusting to the period when foreign nationals obtain their certification. Entrance exams are conducted primarily in the Czech language with the exception of exams for study programmes which will be taught in English, in which case the entrance procedure will be directed in English. Foreign nationals who did not attend high school in the Czech Republic and are applying for a study programme taught in Czech may be required to take an additional test to demonstrate their Czech language ability.
