Chemical Engineering program structure

Usually students completing a study program in Chemical Engineering receive a BEng (Bachelor of Engineering) or MEng (Master of Engineering) degree. These degrees can also be called BSci or MSci (Bachelor and Master of Science), it does not affect the program structure. The name of degree depends on the chosen university and country.

BEng program usually lasts four years, MEng program - five years or more. MEng program includes BEng program with additional courses, modules, research and practice.

Study program in Chemical Engineering often includes courses in Mathematics, Chemistry and Physics during the first years of education, last years are more specific and include more practical courses with high percentage of fieldwork and laboratory lessons.

Some universities encourage MEng and BEng students to spend a year abroad, studying in foreign university or practicing. The last year of education is usually dedicated to a final research project.

Entry requirements for Chemical Engineering applicants

Applicants for Chemical Engineering study programs need to hold high grades in the following subjects: Chemistry and Mathematics. Some universities also require high grades in other natural sciences - Biology and Physics.

Usually language requirements for applicants for technical specializations are less strict than for applicants for arts and humanities specializations, but applicants still have to provide a TOEFL, IELTS or other equivalent certificate proving language proficiency.
