How to apply to Polish universities

Fall semester in Poland starts in October, but the deadline for applications is determined by each particular university. The application should be sent directly to the university's admission office: an up to date information could be found on universities' websites. Those students who need visa to stay in the European Union should apply earlier in order to have enough time to handle all the formal requirements.

Following documents are required for those who want to start a BA degree:

  • Notarized secondary school certificate or an official duplicate, translated to Polish or (in some cases) in English

  • univeristy application form

  • copy of candidate’s ID (passport),

  • proof of the English language proficiency – usually TOEFL or IELTS (those who studied in the high school in English do not need to provide certificates);

  • medical certificate

Following documents are required for those who want to start a MA degree:

  • Undergraduate program diploma or an official duplicate issued by the university,

  • CV,

  • one or several academic references (depending on the university and program type) as well as personal statement,

  • application form,

  • copy of the candidate’s ID (passport),

  • proof of the English language proficiency – usually TOEFL or IELTS (those who studied in the high school or in the univeristy in English do not need to provide certificates);

  • medical certificate

However, sometimes universities may require additional documents, especially if you apply for a PhD program or to professional school (for instance, art school). In this case your portfolio or your publications in scientific journals may be very important or even compulsory. Moreover, art departments and some medical and technical universities might organize additional aptitude test in order to select the best students. In this case you will have to visit Poland in order to participate in this. The option of skype-interview or online-testing is also available.
